Mission

Rotarians around the world volunteer in communities to support education and job training, provide clean water, combat hunger, improve health and sanitation, and eradicate polio.

Wetumpka Rotarians support a variety of local groups and organizations, distribute dictionaries to 3rd grade students in the Wetumpka area and hold an annual speech contest for aspiring high school students from area high schools.

Rotary is the world’s first service club formed on 23 February 1905 by Paul P. Harris, an attorney who wished to capture in a professional club the same friendly spirit he had felt in the small towns of his youth. The Rotary name derived from the early practice of rotating meetings among members’ offices. With 32,000 clubs in over 200 countries and with 1.2 million members, Rotarians world-wide work daily to achieve the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self.”
