The Wetumpka Depot Players are taking over the hometown theatre scene with a pair of summer productions.  The curtain opens first on Ken Davenport and Sarah Saltzberg’s hilarious comedy, Miss Abigail’s Guide to Dating, Mating and Marriage and will be followed by Collected Stories, by Donald Margulies.

“It’s wonderful to see 300 South Main St. alive with activity again,” said Depot artistic director, Kristy Meanor. “The upcoming productions are vastly different, yet equally entertaining.”

Miss Abigail’s Guide to Dating, Mating and Marriage opening May 27 is directed by Meanor.   “This script made me laugh out loud when I read it several years ago. I knew it eventually would end up on our stage.  When the timing worked for Tara Fenn and Jeff Glass to play the leads in this two person, audience participation comedy, we jumped on getting this ready for our audiences. This is a perfect Date Night or Girls’ Night Out kind of show.”  The play is a take on dating apps, social media, flirting techniques and how-to advice from Miss Abigail on “keeping it classy!”

Following Miss Abigail’s Guide to Dating, Mating and Marriage will be a special touring production of Collected Stories, presented by South City Theatre. Directed by Pat Yates and featuring award-winning actresses, Sue Ellen Gerrells and Ashley Richardson, this acclaimed production will play for one weekend only on the Depot stage. Collected Stories looks at how time, truth, and art change people and their interactions—not just with each other, but also with themselves.

Miss Abigail’s Guide to Dating, Mating and Marriage plays May 27,28, June 3, 4, 5 at 730pm and June 6 at 2pm.  Collected Stories plays June 11,12 at 7:30pm and June13 at 2pm. Tickets online at wetumpkadepot.com. Email [email protected] for more information.
